Is Christmas REALLY Just Around the Corner?????

So, I was at Wal-Mart today pricing toys for Christopher's upcoming birthday and Christmas and guess what music I heard playing on the loud speaker throughout the store??? CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!! IT'S NOVEMBER 5?!?!?!

I have mixed feelings about this:

On the one hand, we haven't even gotten to Thanksgiving yet! Now, I know you'll probably say that it was perfect since I WAS shopping for Christmas, but while I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas music, if I start hearing it NOW, I'll be sick of it by Thanksgiving! =( I'd rather wait until Thanksgiving Day or the day after to start hearing it. Why am I surprised year after year that stores start their "Christmas season" earlier and earlier? Before we know it, we'll start seeing stuff out in July! Sorry Wal-Mart, but hearing Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman isn't going to encourage me to buy anymore than my Christmas budget allows.

On the other hand, it's got me REALLY excited about Christmas this year. It did help aid me in getting into the "Christmas Spirit" even if only for a few moments (Christopher's incessent whining about wanting to play with all the toys nullified much of it). It's made me want to pull out my Christmas cd's, but I keep having to fight that urge (see above paragraph for explanation). I'm really looking forward to this Christmas with Christopher. He's at that age where he's just getting into the excitement. Even though he's still learning all about Baby Jesus, Santa, Christmas trees and outside decorations, gifts, spending time with family and friends, etc., he actually has some slight concept for the first time ever. I'm really looking forward to seeing his reaction to everything once we start decorating and wrapping gifts. Of course, I'm most excited about seeing his reaction on Christmas Day! Oh, to be 3-years old again!!!

A New President - WARNING: OPINION POST

Well, once again, we elected a new president. I'll admit that I was a McCain supporter, not Obama (actually, Huckabee, but that's beyond the point). However, since my candidate did not win, I will support the one who did as much as possible. In 1 Timothy 2:1-2, I'm instructed to pray and support my leader. That's not to say that I'll agree with Obama on every (or even most) things, though! He's about as complete opposite of me as one (other than Hilary Clinton) can get! I'm very excited that he's the first African-American to be elected! That's opened the doors to SO many people now! I'm still hopeful that I'll see a female president during my lifetime (just PLEASE not Hilary Clinton!).

I truly hope and pray that Obama holds true to his word of changing our country for the better! My fear, though, is he will lead us to a more socialist country. Just for the heck of it, here's the Wilkipedia definition of "socialism":

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly.

In other words, in a socialist society, everything is split evenly whereas in a capitalist society, each person is given the opportunity to take care of themselves. I want to take care of myself and not rely on the government! I don't want Universal Healthcare. I don't want to "spread the wealth around." I even want Social Security to be handed to the private sector. That's a perfect example as to why we don't need to put our healthcare in the government's control!

That being said, even though I'm quite fearful of Obama's policies, I have hope that he will be a successful president. Only the next 4 years will tell, though.

'Nuff said!

Disclaimer: This post was to just get out my feelings so that I can look back on them someday in the distant future (assuming I still have this blog!). It is not meant to cause hard feelings and I don't want to be questioned or debated. Therefore, I will not approve or respond to any such comments. Just to be clear. =)

Tagged!

Becca tagged me.

7 Weird Things About Myself

1. I like to mix ketchup and mustard and dip my fries in it. Kids made so much fun of me back in junior high that I quit doing it until a few years ago. I've now got Christopher following in my footsteps. :D

2. I LOVE to color...and have since I was a kid! It's such a stress reliever!

3. I can't stand to see a cabinet door left open; I'm obsessive about closing them!

4. I hear certain pitches/volumes that other people don't hear. For example: cell phones! Just PLEASE answer it already! *ripping hair out*

That leads me to #5... I can't stand hearing a phone ring! I have to answer it ASAP! If I get a junk call and don't want to answer it (my home phone doesn't have an off switch), I have to plug my ears (not that it helps too much)!

6. I've always loved checking the mail. As a kid, it's something my sister and I fought over. Now as an adult, it gives me something to look forward to each day...even if it's nothing but junk.

7. Touching my belly button makes me nauseous.

Edited to add #8: I can wiggle both my ears and am double-jointed in my elbows. Now you can call me really weird! :D

Here are my 7 tagged friends: Ali, Joy, Rachel, Jenn, Cindy, Nathan and Allison. =)

Happy Halloween!

I said I'd post some Halloween pictures, so here they are:

Is he a dinosaur or dragon? You decide:

Dressed for our preschool's Fall Festival

Ready to go Trick or Treating

Posing with friends from church

All done Trick or Treating. Notice the pen in his hand...it's a Hannah Montana pen that sings, "Who Said" courtesy of one of our neighbors. We're hoping the battery dies soon!

The Loot...before we visited our next door neighbor. It was completely full by the end of the night.
