We've been hit by The Bug!

So, a stomach virus of some sort has found its way through our household this week. We woke up on Sunday morning, I got ready for church as usual, went to get Christopher up and ready and he threw up. Therefore, he and I stayed home while Shad went alone.

For the first part of the morning, he acted fine...just didn't want to eat or drink anything. As the morning progressed, though, he got worse. He was so pitiful. He would say, "Tummy hurts! Tummy hurts!" while moaning and crying. Made me want to cry since there wasn't a whole lot I could do. He managed to keep down water and Gatorade *most* of the time. The only nap he got was 1 hour in my lap/arms. At one point, I tried to lay him in his crib, but he woke up and wouldn't have any part of going back to sleep there. So, I just let him sleep on me. He finally started acting a little more peppy and eating a little bit in the evening. Enough that I went on to church for my Sunday evening activities. He woke up on Monday morning back to his normal self. However, after past experiences, I held off giving him milk for another day. On Tuesday morning, I tried to give him a little and he threw it back up. So, we stayed home from school just to play it safe. He was pefectly fine the rest of the day. I attempted to give him milk again on Wednesday morning and he did great. So, from now on, I guess I'll be waiting for 3 days.

If I catch a stomach bug, I usually get sick about 48 hours after being exposed. Well, I was fine on Tuesday morning, so thought I'd escaped it. Unfortunately, Shad came home from work early with it. He had it pretty bad. I even slept on the couch to avoid catching it. He had a rough night Tuesday night, but started feeling better on Wednesday evening. He went back to work on Thursday feeling back to normal. I think in our 7 years of marriage, that's the first time he's had a stomach bug. I've never seen him sick like that before.

So, that opened another window of time for me to worry about getting sick. Of course, I started feeling queazy Thursday evening after dinner (approximately 48 hours after first being exposed by Shad). Nothing too bad, but definitely naueous. I slept fitfully, waking up several times feeling like I was going to have to rush into the bathroom. Thankfully, nothing came of it. It didn't help that Christopher woke up hungry around 4 am. I got up to give him a little bit of dry cereal and a sippy of milk and then went back to bed. He was nice enough to let me sleep in until 9 am. I woke up feeling about the same as I did when I went to bed and dealt with the queaziness most of the day. I never did throw up, but did deal with some diarrhea. Not long after taking some Imodium AD (my miracle drug!), I started feeling better and even a little hungry! I'm now waiting for Shad to return home from work with our weekly pizza (yeah, I guess I'm crazy, but I can't miss that)! I don't know if I've been afflicted by the stomach bug or not, but I'm hoping that I'm over whatever it is and that darned Bug is gone for good!!!

I Voted...Have You???

Our Presidential Primaries aren't until Super Tuesday (February 5), but we've had early voting from January 16-31. I meant to go when they first opened, but completely forgot. I was reminded by a news segment, so went today (the last day) after school. For the last several years, I've been taking advantage of the early voting. It's much less crowded!!! Christopher and I were in and out in about 10 minutes. There was hardly anybody there (approximately 3 pm), so we didn't even have to wait.

Unfortunately, Christopher decided that he didn't like the place, so completely freaked out. I had him in his umbrella stroller and he did fine until just after I'd given my driver's license and voter registration card to the lady at the 1st desk. As we were just about to move on, he started saying, "Go back! Go back!" I didn't have a clue what he was talking about and just went on to the next stop and then to the voting machine. He got MUCH worse and was practically hysterical, so I pulled him out of his stroller and held him while voting. I tried to reassure him that he was okay, but it didn't help. There was even a lady who was a volunteer/employee there who came over to talk to him. That only made matters worse as he doesn't want any part of strangers in unfamiliar environments. I somehow managed to finish voting, but couldn't get out of that building fast enough! He calmed down as soon as we walked out and was just fine by the time we got to the car. He even talked about it later that evening! LOL!

I just hope he doesn't have a regular fear of that building as that's where we go to early vote!
