Let's Talk About Poop!

Okay, not my favorite subject, but I did say I'd post an update in my last entry. Well, he finally went late Tuesday afternoon...on the potty!!! Then again twice today...on the potty...while wearing underwear!!! Yippee!!!

He did pretty good overall today, but I was only able to put him in underwear once since all his others were dirty. He did have an accident while wearing them, but it was 100% my fault and not his. He had to go SOOOO bad and ran into the bathroom, but I'd left his insert in the bathtub after cleaning it and forgot to put it back on the toilet. Poor thing couldn't hold it long enough and peed right in front of the toilet. :( So, we had to resort to Pull-Ups the rest of the day. We did get to Wal-Mart to buy some more underwear, and I did laundry, too, but we were running around town all afternoon/evening, so he just stayed in a Pull-Up (he only sees them as diapers, so they're pretty much useless). We'll be at a playdate tomorrow morning, but we'll give the new underwear a go in the afternoon. I just wish that I was brave enough to switch to underwear cold turkey. We'll be at a new friend's house for our playdate tomorrow, though. I'm not ready to risk it yet.

You know, I was thinking...we're going on vacation to Destin on Aug. 16...10 days from now. I'm wondering how well he'll do in regards to potty training. We'll have at least an 8 hour drive to deal with. I guess I timed this whole potty training thing just perfectly, huh? :p Oh well... I'll at least *attempt* to keep him on track. Maybe I ought to buy the kind of travel potty where we can just pull off the side of the road and whip it out for him to use. Hmmm... A bit weird in my eyes, but perfect for a toddler.

Slugging through the trenches

Well, we're on Day 5 of only using diapers at bedtime. This really is like a rollercoaster ride! One day he does GREAT in underwear (Pull-Ups when we leave the house), but the next he has frequent accidents. The only sure-fire way of no accidents is letting him run around naked (100% trained in that department). I just don't understand how he sees such a difference in being naked and wearing underwear/Pull-Ups. It baffles me. So far today, I've let him run around naked, which has gone smoothly. I put underwear on him briefly before naptime, but it was only about 45 minutes. We'll be out of the house this afternoon, though, so he'll be in a Pull-Up. We'll attempt the underwear again this evening, but we're on our last pair that fit him, so it's time to do laundry. Speaking of, that's increased dramatically these last few days. :P Fun time! My biggest concern right now isn't necessarily the actual potty training, though. He hasn't had a bowel movement since Sunday (he normally has 1-2 a day). I really hope he's not holding it because of potty training. He's gone in the toilet before with no apparent issues, so hopefully he'll go very soon!
