November 2010

Highlights from November:

- Little Man'ism... While driving down the road this morning, Little Man saw a flock of birds flying in the air. He announced to me that they're having a baby. When I asked him how he knew, he responded, "Because they're flying in the shape of an egg and that's how they tell everyone they're having a baby!"

- Little Man asked what falling in love means. I didn't have time to explain before he was distracted and off playing again.

- Little Man had a stomach bug at the beginning of the month.

- Opryland Hotel re-opened after rebuilding from the Flood of 2010.

- Took Little Man to see VeggieTales LIVE in town.

- Noticed Little Man was a little "off" at the VeggieTales concert. Turned out he was getting sick with a throat infection (not strep), which lasted for about 2 days. Symptoms were a high fever (over 103), headache and muscle aches.

- A freak accident at church occurred: a light bulb busted and fell from the socket, landed on the pew in front of us on the balcony, bounced between two girls and over the railing, fell down to the lower level where it landed on a girl's head causing her to need stitches.

- After nearly 10 years of marriage, we hosted our first ever Thanksgiving at our house! In attendance: Shad, Little Man and myself as well as Shad's dad, my mom and my sister.

- Another first: I spent a total of 2-1/2 hours standing in line at Toys 'R Us at midnight on Thanksgiving Night to buy a Christmas gift for Little Man....~1-1/2 hours was spent outside in the rain and near freezing temperatures...another hour was spent standing in the checkout line, which snaked through to the back of the store! It saved me about $70, though, so well worth it!

Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

I didn't get to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving yesterday since we were in West Tennessee, so I'll do that today! I hope everyone had a great time with friends and family! We enjoyed our visit with Shad's grandparents, aunts and cousins. Christopher had lots of fun playing with his cousins. He was so exhausted that he slept in until 9:30 today!! We spent Wednesday night with one of Shad's cousins who's married and has a 3-month old baby boy. Being around him and another newborn made me realize that I have absolutely NO baby fever! Instead, I'm suffering more from Doggy Fever! LOL! I really want another small lap-dog, so will start looking into it more after the holidays.

As for Black Friday...I did my part in stimulating the economy. Did you?? I decided to brave Wal-Mart around 9:00 this morning. It wasn't too terribly bad: the parking lot was normal, the inside was a bit crowded, but it was all centralized to the Toys, Electronics and sale isle (all of which were areas I needed :p). Sale items I snagged were: 2 pairs of pj's for Christopher ($4/pair...too bad I didn't know the style is snug, so 24M wouldn't fit him right!), Kung Fu Panda ($9) and Ratatoille ($10). I also finished up Christopher's shopping by getting him a Hot Wheels race track. Later this evening, I also did some shopping online, but I won't go into those details since the recipients may be reading. ;-)

Richard came down this morning, so after my shopping excursion, we all worked on outside Christmas decorations. We haven't put up the icicle lights since getting our metal roof 2 years ago, so Shad didn't know it's nearly impossible to hang lights anymore. So, we had to find a ladder to borrow. Once we found one, things went fairly quickly. After icicle lights, the guys started working on the tomato-stake Christmas tree, but ran out of lights before finishing. So, I made my 2nd trip to Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, I got the WRONG ones (who gets white lights on WHITE wire??), but I decided not to make a 3rd trip today, so will exchange them tomorrow. The guys then moved on to the net lights on the bushes and the rope lights on the front porch before finishing just in time for it to get dark. Shad will finish the tomato-stake Christmas tree on Sunday afternoon since the Titan's don't play. I'll attempt to take pictures and post them when it's all finished.

Shad's going to be gone tomorrow to the final UT Vols game, so it'll just be me and Christopher for most of the day. Since I didn't get to work on the inside Christmas decorations, that's what we'll do. I'm sure having Christopher's help will be lots of fun! LOL! I'll take pictures and post when that's all done, too.
