30 weeks 2 days - 7th Prenatal Appointment

I went to the OB today for a routine visit. Everything seems to be going well.

Weight: Gained 7 lbs - net total of 28 lbs
Blood Pressure: 114/66
Christopher's Heartbeat: Good and strong
Urine: Good
Stomach Measurement: 32 cm

Once again, I got stuck by a needle! This time it was the flu shot. Fun!

My next appointment is in 2 weeks: Wednesday, October 26 (Shad's 30th birthday!).

30 weeks 1 day - Baby Showers are Set!

I now have 2 showers scheduled: one is being thrown by my Sunday School class this Saturday (10/15) and the other is by the group of ladies that I work with in the nursery at church. That one will be on Sunday, November 6. I think there's still a third one in the works, which will be thrown by my co-workers, but there's no date set yet. The one this Saturday will be at our teachers' house and will be more of a cookout and get-together since it's co-ed. I don't think there will be any games...at least, I hope not! I prefer to just talk and play cards instead.

This past weekend was pretty good. On Friday, Shad and I went over to Bill and Jen's for dinner and to hang out for a little while. We had a really good time. I just hope it's not the last chance we have to do that while child-free!

On Saturday, Shad went with his dad and Bill to the game in Knoxville. I stayed home and worked on cleaning out the soon-to-be nursery. I've been making some progress, but still have a long way to go! Jen came over to watch the game with me in the afternoon and then helped to take down the double bed that was in the nursery. That cleared up a lot more floor space for me to work. I'm hoping to get it mostly finished this weekend. I'll have Friday after work and then Saturday before the shower to try. And just MAYBE Shad will get the urge to help me at some point! Except for moving the big blue chair back out into the living room and my glider/ottoman into the nursery and sorting through one of his boxes of stuff, he hasn't been of ANY help yet. All I can say is that he'd better get in gear as I could REALLY use his help to finish it up now!

Sunday was our usual routine: go to church, go out to eat lunch with friends, go home and take a nap (Shad mowed the lawn), and then I went to work in the nursery at church.

I had an appointment with Dr. Adams, the pediatrician we plan to use, on Tuesday (10/11). We know her from church and have heard a lot of positive things about her. Everything at the consultation went well. She answered most all of my questions before I even asked her, which impressed me! I've thought about looking around at other doctors, but I'm very satisfied with Dr. Adams, so I don't think I'll bother.

My next OB appointment is tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 13). It should just be the same routine stuff. After this appointment, I'll start going every 2 weeks! Only 10 weeks left!!! Eeek! Where has the time gone?!

29 weeks 1 day

Time sure is flying by quickly! Last Tuesday (September 27), I had a big package waiting on my front door steps when I returned home from the doctor's office. Turned out to be a bassinet that my mom bought and had sent to me. I guess Christopher will be sleeping in it in our bedroom for the first couple of months. Here's a picture of it:

Last Friday, Shad and I went to a local high school football game with a friend of his who is a teacher/coach at this particular school. It was more of just an excuse to just get out of the house for the evening since I have no opinion about this particular school's football team.

On Saturday, Shad, his dad, a friend of Shad's and I all went over to Knoxville. The guys all went to the Vols football game while I watched it on tv at my dad's house. Patti gave me a bunch more hand-me-down clothing and other stuff. Thanks to yard sales and her grandson, Cooper, I'm quite certain she's going to have me stocked up on clothing for Christopher until he's at least a year old, if not longer! She also gave me some bibs, a Baby Einstein video, an activity set and a Johnny Jump Up.

On Sunday, I ended up having a pregnancy moment and decided not to go to church since I couldn't find anything to wear. I have a few things, but I didn't like how they looked on me, so I just didn't want to get dressed up. Instead, while Shad went by himself, I went to the grocery store, came home, cleaned out the refrigerator, put groceries away and then washed my car. Yes, I DID have quite a bit of energy to start with, but by the time I was half-way done with my car, I was TOTALLY exhausted!!! I guess I won't be doing that again! But my car sure needed cleaning and there was no telling when it would get done otherwise.

After Shad got home from church, we went down to my mom's to have a late lunch with her and my aunt. I was informed during that time that our Sunday School class has set my baby shower for Saturday, October 15, which will be at our teachers' house. It'll be co-ed, but more like our normal get-togethers since the guys don't want anything to do with an actual baby shower. We'll socialize, eat, socialize some more and then have cake, ice cream and open gifts toward the end. I'm really looking forward to it!

So far, this work week has been very hectic! Today's been the first somewhat slow day in a long time! At least I haven't been bored, though.

This Saturday will be the first game that I won't be going to Knoxville; I've decided to stay home for this one. I really need to finish the nursery, so will probably spend a good part of the day working on that. I just really want to get it done and out of the way!

Symptoms: Occasional heartburn and now some minor swelling of my feet, ankles and fingers. I've taken my rings off and am wearing them on a necklace. Other than that, though, everything's good!

My next appointment is Thursday, October 13 for a regular check-up.
